Inspiring Military Story

From the West Sherburne County Tribune, an inspiring story about Jessica Gaulke, a Minnesotan who is in the National Guard and just left for Iraq.

Her dad, Mark Gaulke, just retired from the National Guard and was interviewed about his daughter. Jessica was a local beauty pageant winner prior to shipping out.

"She is known by many as Miss Aquatennial, who gave up her crown to serve her country...Jessica was able to have her pick of what she would train for in the National Guard. She chose advanced training as a specialty generator mechanic."

" 'She knows how to fix gas and diesel engines, any electrical malfunction, it's great,' " says Gaulke."

" 'While she was Miss Robbinsdale before Miss Aquatennial, we were in the middle of the parade and the generator went down on the float and she fixed it.' "

I just thought that was cool.
